Here it is Dec. of '19 and fifty years since I spent my Christmas of '69 in Vietnam.
I was sitting in our back room, listening to Christmas Carols on Spectrum TV reminiscing back to Vietnam. Of which I do often.
Enjoyed your wonderful story of your '69 Christmas and exploits. I remember and still have a picture of the visit to one of our firebases by the Donut Dolly's. Bless their hearts.
Thanks so much for posting this.
A Merry Christmas to you.... and, 'Welcome Home' !

+Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10926680831621149146noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5680984228843410546.post-39143658142078626772014-12-22T17:09:43.655-05:002014-12-22T17:09:43.655-05:00What a wonderful, heartwarming story. Yes, it really is that simple, just as Jim demonstrated in his story. One idea spoken aloud, catches on and the "snowball effect" takes it from there. Thank you for sharing your story, Jim and thank you for your service. --Frances Foster JohnsonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5680984228843410546.post-3203064711969014492014-12-06T10:20:52.939-05:002014-12-06T10:20:52.939-05:00And I thank you, Byron, for your constant and thou...And I thank you, Byron, for your constant and thoughtful support -- Merry Christmas to you and your family.CJ Heckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13867024641088772150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5680984228843410546.post-58196015670266497222014-12-06T08:14:13.917-05:002014-12-06T08:14:13.917-05:00Jim: Excellent piece that captures the true feelin...Jim: Excellent piece that captures the true feeling most of us had at Christmastime in Vietnam. Reading this, I welled with tears as the memories flowed, especially when I reached the line that sums it all up: 'Is this what peace sounds like?'
Very well done. Thanks for writing and sharing it, and thanks CJ for providing the forum. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
