"Sharing can be a way of healing. Grief and loss can isolate,
anger even alienate. Shared with others, emotions unite
as we see we aren't alone. We realize others weep with us."
~Susan Wittig Albert

Through our writing, we walk out of the darkness into the light
together, one small step at a time, recording history, educating
America, and we are healing.

Vote Wisely in 2012

Vote Wisely
Craig Latham sent this to me today in an email.   It's something I also have strong feelings about, so I'm going out on a limb and I'm posting it here on Memoirs:

Vote wisely in 2012. We all depend on it.

Recently, Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, approved another financial aid deal for Lybia.  Gee, it must be just what we needed ...

Will someone please tell me what the hell's wrong with the people that run this country,  both the Republicans and Democrats?  We're "broke" and we can't help our own seniors, veterans, orphans, the hungry or the homeless.

In the  last few years, we have provided aid to Haiti, Chile,  Pakistan,  Lybia, Egypt, Turkey, and Japan.  That's literally, billions of dollars.

Our retired seniors are living on a fixed income.  They receive no aid, nor do they get any breaks, while our government and religious organizations pour hundreds of billions of our dollars -- and tons of food -- into foreign  countries.

We have hundreds of adoptable children right here, who are shoved aside, ignored and overlooked, to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.

There are save-the-children campaigns running on TV stations across the country, asking for donations to feed, house, and educate foreign children, while we have children suffering right here lacking those very same life-sustaining elements.

America is sadly becoming a country where we have a growing homeless population with no shelter or employment opportunities.

Right in our own country are children going  to bed hungry, elderly people going without needed medications or food, and mentally ill without affordable and necessary treatment.

I ask you, how can they run a Benefit for the people of Haiti on twelve TV stations?   How can we afford ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents  clothing, bedding, doctors and medical supplies for other countries?  Imagine if the  government were to give our own United States the same support they give to other countries.   Didn't we learn anything at all from Hurricane Katrina?  Sad, isn't it?

GOD  BLESS  AMERICA

IN GOD WE TRUST

Once again:  Vote wisely in 2012. We all depend on it ...
